Yvon Pedneault, Quebec's Hockey Commentator, Dies at 77

Yvon Pedneault, a longtime Quebec sports journalist and commentator, died on Saturday at the age of 77. He had been diagnosed with cancer a month earlier. Pedneault was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, in 1946. He began his career in journalism in the early 1970s, working for various newspapers and radio stations in Quebec. In 1989, he joined the Réseau des Sports (RDS), where he became one of the network's most popular hockey analysts. He also worked for Radio-Canada, TQS, and TVA Sports. Pedneault was known for his knowledge of the game and his ability to explain complex hockey concepts in a clear and concise way. He was also a gifted storyteller, and his broadcasts were often full of anecdotes and insights. In addition to his work as a broadcaster, Pedneault was also a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame's selection committee. He was inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
